In class I got quite a few requests to explain the verb to get.

It seems that not many people «get it» and sometimes they get frustrated when they don’t understand the many ways in which we can use this verb.

This situation really got me down, that’s why I wanted to help my students get better at using the verb ‘to get.’[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=».vc_custom_1538392859094{background-color: #528cbf !important;}»]

Not only that, but I also endeavour to give a few phrasal verbs, expressions and even a terrible joke.  One so bad that it’s good, at least in my opinion, I’ll let you be the judge.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=»1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=»¿Qué debo hacer para mejor mi listening?» font_container=»tag:h1|font_size:30|text_align:center» google_fonts=»font_family:Marvel%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal» css=».vc_custom_1538481814191{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}»][/vc_column][vc_column width=»1/2″][vc_column_text]In addition to the many examples of get in this text, I use the ‘get phrases’ below in the video. That being said, I challenge you to watch the video once, twice or maybe three times to see if you get the examples.

If not, don’t worry, practice makes perfect, so get in touch with me by posting a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I get the chance.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=»1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=»Perfect your listening!» font_container=»tag:h1|font_size:30|text_align:center» google_fonts=»font_family:Marvel%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal» css=».vc_custom_1538482412174{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}»][/vc_column][vc_column width=»1/2″][vc_video link=»https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=So8IjT4cGW8″ align=»center»][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=»1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=»Here are the ‘get phrases’ that appear in the video:» font_container=»tag:h1|font_size:30|text_align:center» google_fonts=»font_family:Marvel%3Aregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal» css=».vc_custom_1538392960921{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}»][/vc_column][vc_column width=»1/2″][vc_column_text]

  • Get difficult, get old, get fat and get ready

  • Get to work, get home, get to a place e.g. Sevilla, get here, get there

  • Get an email, get a phone, get a credit card

  • Get by, get rid of, get up, get along/on with, get a joke…

Finally, we think that you learn English more quickly if you’re having fun at the same time.  That’s why we’re going to end the blog with a light-hearted joke.
