Introducing Louise, Our Newest Teacher!
We are delighted to introduce Louise, the newest addition to our Sevilla team! Let’s learn a little bit more about her!
So Louise, Where are you From?
I’m originally from Ashington, which is a town close to Newcastle.
And how long have you been teaching English?
It’s been 5 years now.
So, why Sevilla?
Well, I fell in love with Sevilla a few years ago when I came to visit the city. I really love Spanish culture and especially Andalusian culture. I feel like Sevilla still holds that authentic presence. Also, I am a lover of flamenco, red wine and tapas!
Ah so tell us, what is your favourite food from Spain then?
Hmm, there are so many! Well first of all I have my top three ‘go to’ dishes. I love ‘solomillo al whisky’, then the classic ‘Paella’ and finally I would say some ‘patatas bravas’ simple but so good!
Great! So when you're not soaking up the red wine flamenco & tapas what else do you like to do?
I love playing the guitar and spending time outdoors. There are beautiful parks here in Sevilla where I like to have picnics. I also like to make travel videos and in general make videos with my friends. I adore finding a good book or movie and whenever I visit a new place I try to draw a picture to put in my memory book. I really love history and music so when I can, I try to visit museums around the city, visit monuments and find different events. Just recently I was going to jazz concerts over summer and the outdoor cinema here in Sevilla.
Who would you say is your biggest hero and why?
I find this question difficult because I have a few heroes in my life. The one who stands out the most for me is my Mam. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be where I am right now. She always helped me to believe in myself or take risks. I also feel like I can tell her anything and she is there for me when I need her. So yes, Mother Toole is my hero!
What is your greatest talent?
I will probably regret saying this but, I can make the sound of a dove/pigeon with my hands! Is it a talent? who knows. Oh, I can also recite the whole script of titanic.
And, what motivates you at work?
Erm.. A cup of coffee? No, Haha. What motivates me is a fast paced and varied work timetable. I love each day to feel different and thats why I really love teaching. I am a people person who loves to be around others and finding out what they like and what they want to achieve. If I help a student then it makes me feel proud and passionate about being an English teacher.
Perhaps most importantly... what is your go to Kareoke song?
Well it used to be Proud Mary by tina turner, but recently I would have to say Jolene by Dolly Parton!
And if you had a superpower, what would it be?
That when I see an animal, we can have a conversation. I am a big animal lover!
What annoys you the most?
Honestly, It takes me a lot to get annoyed, in that respect I am quite relaxed. However, I believe that we are all equal, so when other people put others down it makes me annoyed because it doesn’t make any sense to me. We all have different traits that we are good at but nobody is better than anyone else. We are all amazing!
If you won the lottery what would you do?
The first thing I would do is call my parents, tell them to quit their jobs and buy an apartment out here for them in Spain. Then, probably invest some of it, give it to good causes such as the environment and homeless people, and then start making my own film.
What are you looking forward to most now you have joined Teachify?
So many things! A new work environment, a new team, new experience and new students. The thing most that I am looking forward to is how much I am going to learn and how this is a step in the right direction for me in terms of my career. I also love how everybody means something in teachify, we can share our ideas and be a family. I am so excited!
Great Louise, so finally what is your advice to our followers when it comes to learning English?
Accept that sometimes it is going to be a challenge but in a good way. Learning a language isn’t always easy so don’t worry if you make mistakes, we all do, mistakes are key in making us stronger and better at something.
Thanks very much for your time Louise, we look forward to getting to know you better over the next year!
