Introducing Louise, Our Newest Teacher!

Introducing Louise, Our Newest Teacher!

We are delighted to introduce Louise, the newest addition to our Sevilla team! Let’s learn a little bit more about her!

So Louise, Where are you From?

I’m originally from Ashington, which is a town close to Newcastle.

And how long have you been teaching English?

It’s been 5 years now.

So, why Sevilla?

Well, I fell in love with Sevilla a few years ago when I came to visit the city. I really love Spanish culture and especially Andalusian culture. I feel like Sevilla still holds that authentic presence. Also, I am a lover of flamenco, red wine and tapas!

Ah so tell us, what is your favourite food from Spain then?

Hmm, there are so many! Well first of all I have my top three ‘go to’ dishes. I love ‘solomillo al whisky’, then the classic ‘Paella’ and finally I would say some ‘patatas bravas’ simple but so good!

Great! So when you're not soaking up the red wine flamenco & tapas what else do you like to do?

I love playing the guitar and spending time outdoors. There are beautiful parks here in Sevilla where I like to have picnics. I also like to make travel videos and in general make videos with my friends. I adore finding a good book or movie and whenever I visit a new place I try to draw a picture to put in my memory book. I really love history and music so when I can, I try to visit museums around the city, visit monuments and find different events. Just recently I was going to jazz concerts over summer and the outdoor cinema here in Sevilla.

Who would you say is your biggest hero and why?

I find this question difficult because I have a few heroes in my life. The one who stands out the most for me is my Mam. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be where I am right now. She always helped me to believe in myself or take risks. I also feel like I can tell her anything and she is there for me when I need her. So yes, Mother Toole is my hero!

What is your greatest talent?

I will probably regret saying this but, I can make the sound of a dove/pigeon with my hands! Is it a talent? who knows. Oh, I can also recite the whole script of titanic.

And, what motivates you at work?

Erm.. A cup of coffee? No, Haha. What motivates me is a fast paced and varied work timetable. I love each day to feel different and thats why I really love teaching. I am a people person who loves to be around others and finding out what they like and what they want to achieve. If I help a student then it makes me feel proud and passionate about being an English teacher.

Perhaps most importantly... what is your go to Kareoke song?

Well it used to be Proud Mary by tina turner, but recently I would have to say Jolene by Dolly Parton!

And if you had a superpower, what would it be?

That when I see an animal, we can have a conversation. I am a big animal lover!

What annoys you the most?

Honestly, It takes me a lot to get annoyed, in that respect I am quite relaxed. However, I believe that we are all equal, so when other people put others down it makes me annoyed because it doesn’t make any sense to me. We all have different traits that we are good at but nobody is better than anyone else. We are all amazing!

If you won the lottery what would you do?

The first thing I would do is call my parents, tell them to quit their jobs and buy an apartment out here for them in Spain. Then, probably invest some of it, give it to good causes such as the environment and homeless people, and then start making my own film.

What are you looking forward to most now you have joined Teachify?

So many things! A new work environment, a new team, new experience and new students. The thing most that I am looking forward to is how much I am going to learn and how this is a step in the right direction for me in terms of my career. I also love how everybody means something in teachify, we can share our ideas and be a family. I am so excited!

Great Louise, so finally what is your advice to our followers when it comes to learning English?

Accept that sometimes it is going to be a challenge but in a good way. Learning a language isn’t always easy so don’t worry if you make mistakes, we all do, mistakes are key in making us stronger and better at something.

Thanks very much for your time Louise, we look forward to getting to know you better over the next year!

Meet Will, Our Newest Teacher!

Meet Will, Our Newest Teacher!

We are delighted to introduce our newest addition to our Madrid team, Will! Let’s learn a bit more about him.

So Will Tell us a bit About Yourself

Well originally I studied music at Essex university and Brighton Institute of Modern Music because I wanted to be a profesional musician. After my degree I decided that I wanted to learn Spanish and then teach guitar in that language! I therefore decided to do an ESL teacher training course.

After a while I realised that I actually enjoyed teaching English much more tan teaching guitar, so I stuck at it!

So why Madrid?

I chose Madrid because I thought it would be a great city to learn Spanish, teach guitar and eventually teach English.

And What do you Enjoy Doing in Your Free Time?

Other than learning Spanish, I am obsessed with Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, I’ve been practicing it 6 days a week for a year and half now!

What is your top tip for learning a language?

My top learning tip is convert your life/ hobbies to your target language. So if you love watching football, watch football with commentary in that language so you learn vocabulary and get used to the accents. If you read fitness blogs or watch fitness videos online, watch them in your target language! Change your phone to that language!

Try to live in that language as much as possible and take advantage of any tools (mobiles) that are there to help!

Meet Ash, our Newest Teacher!

Meet Ash, our Newest Teacher!

We are delighted to introduce Ash, the latest addition to the Teachify team!

Let’s find out a little bit about him!

So Ash tell us a bit about yourself

I come from a Journalism and writing background, so I have always had a passion for English.
My experience in teaching over the past couple of years has allowed me to gain an even better understanding of the English language, and in turn has strengthened my love for it.
Hopefully you will enjoy learning English as much as I enjoy teaching it!

And what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Being in the great outdoors! Cooking (and eating!), Collecting records, playing sport and saying “Hello” to as many Dogs as possible.

So why Sevilla?

Sevilla is steeped in a rich history which I find fascinating. The weather makes it easy to love too….and the price of beer is also a bonus!

And finally what is your top tip for those wanting to learn English?

Little and often! Develop the habit of using what you have learnt as frequently as you can. Be confident and make the most of any opportunity to improve, no matter how small.
