What's the Difference Between Whose & Who's?

Clases de inglés Negocios

Hi Guys!

In today’s blog post we are going to be taking a look at the difference between who’sand whose. These 2 words tend to cause quite a few issues for non native speakers as they both sound the same and come from the same pronoun (who).

Although these 2 words often get confused the explanation behind them is actually pretty simple. You see who’s is a contraction of the words  who has/is, so for example we could say:

  • Who’s thirsty?
  • Who’s got my phone?

On the other hand Whose is a possessive pronoun, we use it when something belongs to somebody else. For example:

  • Whose drink is this?

Now who’s ready to use who’s and whose without making any silly mistakes!
