Welcome! My name is Michael and I am the founder of Teachify. I am going to tell you about why we started Teachify and what our ambitions are. To top it all off, I am going to highlight some useful phrases and idioms in this blog, along with the Spanish translation below.
Who am I? I have been called ´ManchEnglish´ by many people. What this means is: I was born in Spain (Albacete to be exact) and I grew up in Canterbury, England. I am proud of my background and embrace the best of both worlds. Funnily enough I didn’t end up in either of those cities, I ended up in Seville teaching English, which was by far one of the best decisions I ever made. Having learnt Spanish as a second language, I began to quickly realise why Spanish speakers struggle in certain areas of the English language. I only had to look as far as my dad who, till this day, struggles with prepositions even though he has lived in England for 55 years! This has given me an advantage when it comes to teaching. I am able to focus on common problems professional learners face when learning English and iron them out from the get go.
Learning a language is never easy, and even less so with our busy working days. Where do we find the time to learn English? How can we fit the high demand of learning English in the business world in, if I can’t even find time to go to the gym or do the things I enjoy? At Teachify we feel that learning English needs to be part of your daily life. That means not having to run around the city after a long day at the office; sit in a class and try to learn something when in reality your mind is elsewhere. That wouldn’t be my cup of tea!
Why I started Teachify I have worked in Seville teaching English for 6 years. I have gone from being a teacher to creating and developing material, leading to then co-ordinating a learning centre. During this time I began to notice that professional learners needed a different kind of English service. A service that gave them the opportunity and complete flexibility to fit English into their lives and not feel like it were a chore. Teachify has been created to offer just that.
Who are the teachers? We are a select team of experienced native teachers with the objectives to not only provide a high level of English learning using modern technology, but to make learning available to those who find themselves short of time, snowed under at work or with their backs up against the wall. Companies are forever demanding more from their employees, which means time for learning English is even more limited. Professional learners are now able to decide which day, what time and where they would like their class to be. We want to add hours to your day!

¡Bienvenido! Mi nombre es Michael y soy el fundador de Teachify. Os voy a contar por qué comenzamos Teachify y cuáles son nuestras ambiciones. Además, en este blog voy a incluir algunas frases útiles y modismos junto a su traducción al español.
¿Quién soy yo? Muchas personas me han llamado ‘ManchEnglish’. ¿Qué quiere decir esto? Pues que nací en España (Albacete, para ser exactos) y crecí en Canterbury, Inglaterra. Estoy orgulloso de mi experiencia y me llevo lo mejor de ambos mundos. Curiosamente no terminé en ninguna de esas ciudades, terminé en Sevilla enseñando inglés, que fue, con diferencia, una de las mejores decisiones que he tomado. Gracias a haber aprendido español como segunda lengua, empecé a comprender rápidamente cuáles son las áreas de la lengua inglesa más complejas para los hispanohablantes. Sólo tengo que fijarme en mi padre que, a día de hoy, sigue luchando con preposiciones ¡aunque ha vivido en Inglaterra durante 55 años! Esto me ha dado una ventaja cuando se trata de enseñar. Soy capaz de centrarme en los problemas más comunes que los estudiantes profesionales tienen al aprender inglés y enderezarlos desde el principio.
Aprender un idioma nunca es fácil, y menos aún con nuestras apretadas agendas. ¿Dónde encontramos el tiempo para aprender inglés? ¿Cómo podemos encajar la alta demanda que existe para aprender inglés en el mundo de los negocios, si no podemos ni encontrar tiempo para ir al gimnasio o hacer las cosas que nos gusta? En Teachify sentimos que aprender inglés necesita ser parte de tu vida diaria. Eso significa no tener que correr por la ciudad después de un largo día en la oficina, sentarse en una clase y tratar de aprender algo cuando en realidad su mente está en otra parte. ¡No es de mi agrado!
¿Por qué empecé Teachify? He trabajado enseñando inglés en Sevilla durante 6 años. He ido de dar clases, a crear y mejorar material didáctico, liderando y hasta coordinando un centro de idiomas. Durante todo este tiempo, he empezado a notar que los estudiantes profesionales necesitan un nuevo servicio de inglés. Un servicio que les proporcione flexibilidad total para incluir la enseñanza de inglés en sus vidas, sin que se sienta como una tarea. Teachify ha sido diseñado y creado para ofrecer justamente eso.
Who are the teachers? Somos un grupo selecto de profesores nativos experimentados, cuyo objetivo no solo es proveer clases de inglés de alta calidad utilizando los medios tecnológicos más actuales, sino que también queremos hacer accesible la enseñanza a aquellos que tengan un tiempo limitado e irregular, que estén hasta arriba de trabajo o que se encuentren entre la espada y la pared. Las empresas son exigentes y constantemente requieren más y más de sus empleados, lo cual implica que el tiempo disponible para aprender inglés sea incluso más limitado. Estudiantes profesionales pueden ahora decidir en un instante qué día, a qué hora y dónde les gustaría que fuese su clase. ¡Queremos sumar a tu día!
